Give 5 To Camp!
- It is 3 years until the 50th Anniversary of Cascade Lake 4-H Camp.
- Tell 5 youth about attending 4-H Adventure Camps.
- Let 5 people know about the camp and how they can support camp.
- Bring 5 volunteers with you to a Camp Work Weekend.
- Send $5 ($50, $500, $5000…any multiple of five) each year for the next 5 years to the camp to help make improvements.
The Cascade Lake 4-H Camp Board launched its 50th Anniversary Update five years ago after our 40th Anniversary celebration. We set goals of items needing attention before we start our next 50 years. Improvements have started, grants written and ‘Friends of Cascade Lake 4-H Camp’ made.
The Camp Board appreciates all the Friends that have supported our project by volunteering time and giving financial support. Our estimated cost of needed improvements was $246,000. By the end 2012, we had raised $90,188. We appreciate every dollar received and hour volunteered, but you can see we have more to accomplish.
We started with 5 and now we only have 3 years to go, so we are continuing our “Give 5 to Camp” campaign. Everyone who has ever attended the camp, hopes to someday attend the camp, and knows the value of the 4-H camping program can decide how many of these five ideas they could use to support the Cascade Lake 4-H Camp.
Even if you didn’t start “Give 5″ last year, please take a look and see how you might be able to donate to the Camp. Every donation of time and/or money is greatly appreciated.

A Little History and a Great Big Thank You
The Cascade Lake 4-H Camp and the Canyon County 4-H Endowment Fund are recipients of a generous gift made by the former Nampa Countryman’s Club.
The Nampa Countryman’s Club was established in 1926 for the purpose of creating good relations between area farmers and Nampa businessmen, as well as to develop good leaders among farmers and provide an organization for expressing and developing opinions and policies important to the farmers. After 81 years of service to the community the organization disbanded in 2007, due to the many changes in the agriculture community and the minimal number of young farmers able to carry on the responsibilities of the group. At the time of disbanding the Club a nest egg of nearly $10,000 was in the account. Former members of the organization determined that the money would be given to those projects in the community that had been a major part of the Nampa Countryman’s Club for so many years. The Lake Cascade 4-H Camp received $8,800 and the Canyon Country 4-H Endowment Fund was granted a $1,000.
For numerous decades, the Nampa Countryman’s Club provided significant support to 4-H, as well as many other organizations. The Cascade Lake 4-H Camp in Donnelly, Idaho was created in 1965 as a summer camp for kids and a place for families and other organizations that want to rent the camp. In the early years, the members of the Nampa Countryman’s Club helped build many of the cabins and lodge and continued to contribute to the repair and improvements throughout the decades.
Kathy Lauer, President of the Board of Directors for camp stated, “The Cascade Lake 4-H Camp appreciates the wonderful members from the Countryman’s organization for their generous donation. The group has been great Friends of the 4H Camp for the last 47 years. The money will help us as we prepare to celebrate the camps 50th anniversary in 2015. The Camp Board is working to have camp ready to begin another 50 years of providing a place to come and experience the wonders of nature in a safe, accessible setting for all youth. The Countrymen’s gift will help us reach our goal.”
